Dorset Police included some questions to find out what Poole residents thought about the Home Office’s proposals to restructure police forces, including combining Dorset with a neighbouring Police Force.
The results show that around three quarters of panel members (73%) would prefer to retain the current structure. 75% told us that they were ‘concerned that the overall control and direction of local policing could be located outside of Dorset’. Less than one in five (19%) felt that combining forces would make your family feel safer.
The new Home Secretary has put restructuring plans on hold, with further consideration and consultation planned in the Autumn.
