We asked the panel about the issues facing the development of Poole. The vast majority identified with all of the issues. They agreed or strongly agreed that the following were the main issues:

  • Protecting the environment and character of Poole (97%)
  • Providing community facilities, cultural provision & green space (92%)
  • Influencing the type, size and affordability of new housing (89%)
  • Keeping skilled workers in the town (88%)
  • Minimising the need to travel and improve travel choices (87%)
  • Strengthen the role of the Town Centre and local centres (82%)
  • Maintaining land for employment (72%)

This consultation feeds into the ‘Local Development Framework’ (LDF), which brings together all of the planning policies that guide development in Poole. The Council consults the public on all policies that come forward through the LDF. In the Autumn we will be consulting residents on preferred options for plans to regenerate the northern end of the town centre around the Lighthouse, Bus Station and Sainsbury's area.
