Introduction

Sterte is the focus for development that will change the local skyline, provide more homes to tackle Poole’s housing shortage, and improve the environment.

What’s happening?
• Poole Gateway - potential redevelopment of the goods yard site, 265 new homes, hotel and retail units
• New bridge across the railway providing a pedestrian and cycle link from Sterte to the town centre
• Potential redevelopment of some of the Council owned housing land at Sterte Close
• Provision of a local community park at the Esplanade

What are the potential benefits?
• Creation of affordable homes for sale and rent to local people
• Enhancement of existing Council owned homes and their environment
• Quality of life and a better place to live
• Better recreational facilities
• Tackling climate change

Background

How you can influence the future of Sterte:

You are invited to:
• an Exhibition and Consultation on Wednesday 29 November at TS Drax, the Sea Cadets hall in Sterte Avenue West - 2 to 8pm.
• Participate and work with a Community Liaison Group to look at the future of Sterte.
• Set up a Park Design Group to develop a vision for the park.

Further workshops are planned for:
• 21 February 2007 at TS Drax
• 21 March 2007 at TS Drax
• Work in Progress exhibition on 18 April 2007 at TS Drax
• A final exhibition of proposals in June 2007
