Draft Regional Spatial Strategy Revision: Gypsies and Travellers

Introduction
The Regional Assembly has formally submitted a Revision to draft Regional Spatial Strategy for the South West (RSS) to take account of Gypsy and Traveller accommodation pitch requirements for each local authority area in the South West. This has been based upon a needs assessment carried out since the draft RSS was originally prepared. The submission consists of the following documents:
· Proposed revised text for paras 6.1.12 and 6.1.13 and Policy GT1 to replace paras 6.1.12 to 6.1.15 and Policy GT1 of the draft RSS submitted in April 2006
· Table 4.3 setting out Gypsy and Traveller pitch requirements by local authority and Housing Market Area
· Pre-Submission Consultation Statement
· Strategic Sustainability Appraisal
Public consultation on this draft RSS Revision starts on Wednesday 8th August until 31st October 2007. The Regional Assembly has arranged for a copy of the Revision, together with supporting documents, to be placed in local libraries. These can also be found in the Civic Centre in Poole (Planning Reception, 2nd Floor, Civic Centre). Alternatively, information can be found on the Regional Assembly's website.
