English Housing Survey
31 Mar 08- 31 Dec 08
Introduction
The Department for Communities and Local Government is launching the English Housing Survey on the 31st March 2008. This is a door to door survey that will be carried out with households selected at random.
The EHS brings together the Department's two existing surveys, the Survey of English Housing (SEH) and the English House Condition Survey (EHCS) into a single fieldwork operation. The survey is being administered by the Office for National Statistics.
The survey will be the Department's primary source of information on people's changing housing circumstances and the condition and energy efficiency of the nation's housing.
Fieldwork will run continuously throughout the year and a number of householders of all tenures in your area will be invited to take part.
The survey comprises an initial interview with the householder to ask about their housing circumstances and views on their home and neighbourhood.
About half of those interviewed will then be selected to go on and receive a physical inspection of the interior and exterior of the property by a professional surveyor to collect information on its condition and energy efficiency.
