Broadstone Conservation Areas Character Appraisal and Management Plan
9 Feb 09- 31 Mar 09
Introduction
Residents views are now being sought on proposed extensions to the Tudor Road and Ridgeway/Broadstone Park Conservation Areas.
The Broadstone Conservation Areas were the last to be designated in the Borough of Poole in October 2004. Since then a written appraisal was completed on the area and in 2008 the Broadstone Park War Memorial has been nationally listed as a design of distinct architectural quality and craftsmanship.
Maps and a written report justifying these extensions have been drafted following from the April 2007 public consultation when area residents said they wanted to see a broader survey of the area around Dunyeats/Broadstone Park and the older c.1900 Golf Links suburb. The Appraisal and Management Plan document includes a brief history of the areas and assesses the built environment and the public opens spaces within the landscape that defines their character.
Extensions to both areas are proposed around the Dunyeats Road/Upper Golf Links corner and up Golf Links and Lower Golf Links Road from Moor Road. In both areas good historic houses are set within mature gardens with large specimen trees, front gardens and hedges forming the rich, verdant landscape.
Those properties that are proposed for the Borough's list of Buildings of Local Importance along with those making a positive contribution to the character of the areas are identified on maps and are included in an Appendix in the end pages of the document.
Replies to this information can be made by post and/or by attending an informal public workshop on 20-21 February 2009 at the Broadstone Methodist Church.
