Councillor Brian Leverett Link opens in new window, Leader of the Council, said: "The Audit Commission has said that we are a good Council" not far off being excellent. Despite low levels of Government funding, our drive for efficiency and our determination to keep the Council Tax under control, we are determined to do better to change perceptions and be considered excellent. Now we have this data, we can begin to start understanding and discussing what we need to do to improve. With a new direction 'Striving for Excellence', clear long term priorities and 5 major projects, the building blocks are in place to achieve the excellence in our services that residents deserve and expect."

The Council commissioned MORI (Market Opinion Research Institute) to carry out some discussion groups to help understand what are the key influencers on satisfaction, and how the Council can do better.
