2008 Retail Monitoring Report
The 2008 annual retail monitoring report considers the ‘health’ of Poole Town Centre and the smaller centres within the Borough of Poole. The purpose of the ‘healthcheck’ is to review the vitality, viability and attractiveness of Poole Town Centre and the smaller centres within the Borough, as a place in which to shop, do business, work, live and spend leisure time. The report is based on the analysis of quantitative and qualitative information derived from the Retail Monitoring Survey undertaken in November 2008 and the 2006 Poole Opinion Panel Survey. The healthcheck provides a valuable insight into the diversity of land use in Poole Town Centre coupled with public perception of the services and facilities provided in the centre.
The report also examines a number of components ranging from land use in the smaller centres within the Borough, transport and access to Poole Town Centre, Pedestrian flows in the town centre and developments and investments within Poole. It should be noted that no single indicator should be taken to provide a definitive measure of Poole Town Centres and the smaller centres, as the report has brought together a wide variety of indicators derived from a wide variety of sources, in order to provide a broad overview of Poole Town Centre and the smaller centres within the Borough. It should also be noted that the data derived from the Poole Opinion Panel Survey 2006 has been subject to interpretation and is based on personal viewpoints of the respondents, therefore it is accepted that the data is subjective.
